Optimal networks for dynamical spreading

چکیده
The inverse problem of finding the optimal network structure for a specific type dynamical process stands out as one most challenging problems in science. Focusing on susceptible-infected-susceptible dynamics annealed networks whose structures are fully characterized by degree distribution, we develop an analytic framework to solve problem. We find that, relatively low or high infection rates, distribution is unique, which consists no more than two distinct nodal degrees. For intermediate multitudinous and can have broader support. also general, heterogeneity decreases with rate. A surprising phenomenon existence value rate any would be generating maximum spreading prevalence. findings provide insights into interplay between processes practical implications.

Optimal resource diffusion for suppressing disease spreading in multiplex networks
Resource diffusion is an ubiquitous phenomenon, but how it impacts epidemic spreading has received little study. We propose a model that couples epidemic spreading and resource diffusion in multiplex networks. The spread of disease in a physical contact layer and the recovery of the infected nodes are both strongly dependent upon resources supplied by their counterparts in the social layer. The...
متن کاملOptimal allocation of resources for suppressing epidemic spreading on networks.
Efficient allocation of limited medical resources is crucial for controlling epidemic spreading on networks. Based on the susceptible-infected-susceptible model, we solve the optimization problem of how best to allocate the limited resources so as to minimize prevalence, providing that the curing rate of each node is positively correlated to its medical resource. By quenched mean-field theory a...
متن کاملDamage spreading and criticality in finite random dynamical networks.
We systematically study and compare damage spreading at the sparse percolation (SP) limit for random Boolean and threshold networks with perturbations that are independent of the network size N. This limit is relevant to information and damage propagation in many technological and natural networks. Using finite-size scaling, we identify a new characteristic connectivity Ks, at which the average...

متن کاملDynamical interplay between awareness and epidemic spreading in multiplex networks.
We present the analysis of the interrelation between two processes accounting for the spreading of an epidemic, and the information awareness to prevent its infection, on top of multiplex networks. This scenario is representative of an epidemic process spreading on a network of persistent real contacts, and a cyclic information awareness process diffusing in the network of virtual social contac...
